Abstract

The results of investigations of Ni-NbC composite coatings deposited by the plasma transferred arc welding method from a mixture of powders onto the low alloy steel are presented in the paper. These weld overlaying were made for variable values of the main arc current in the range of 60÷120 A.
The structure examinations of coatings were carried out using both optical and scanning microscopy. The microhardness distribution of the matrix of composite coatings was also analyzed. It was shown that correct weld overlaying are formed for specific process parameters, and as a result of the intensive interaction of NbC particles with the liquid matrix comes to their disintegrate
